Standing up to a mean teacher

Most students avoid standing up to a bad teacher who is being mean to them because they do not want to make the situation worse. Unless the teacher is removed, he/she will always have the power to lower grades, ridicule the student, etc. Have you had to deal with such things? What did you do?

I was not able to handle such situations well as a student. My husband was a strong fellow as a student too. He always had guts to say things right on the face. He tells us few of his experiences. One goes like this, his teacher used to take liberties with him, he used to take things but the day he felt that enough is enough. His teacher was supposed to go out of station and he wanted few students to do him a favor by staying at his house and keeping guard for few days. Every one was uncomfortable, but my husband got up and told that he won't be able to stay as he is a student not a guard. This did a little damage but it was a good lesson for the teacher.

I have not tried up for myself. i was always afraid to do that. some teachers are very mean but i think that we should know how to stand up to them because if not, it will just give them the authority to do such things. they should also know which is right from wrong.

I have seen students trying to stand up for themselves and then the teacher paying them back later. They always have means to do so, and students know that. You have to be real brave to speak up.
